Our Favorite Queer-Owned Businesses In Porto
Hey y'all, welcome to the official Casa Cockatoo blog. I want this to be a space where I can share a bit about my life here in Porto, Portugal. After living here for almost a decade I’ve picked up some tips and tricks along the way.
As I begin to open my own queer-owned business in the city - Casa Cockatoo. It was only perfect that my first blog be some of the best queer-owned businesses that Porto has to offer.
This list was made courtesy of our Casa Cockatoo Instagram followers. Please follow us there or on TikTok to stay updated with our progress.
Bar Of Soap - R. do Bolhão 132, 4000-111 Porto
Fun fact, I opened Bar of Soap many years ago pre-pandemic before I sold it to its new owner, Pedro. My intention with starting Bar of Soap was to create a safe, cozy space in the city for queer people and expats to gather and find community. It has grown into one of the only queer bars in Porto. Be sure you check out their drag shows on the weekend.
Boteco Igrejinha - Rua do Almada 384, 4050-033 Porto
Recently opened Brazilian bar where you can enjoy small bites and nice drinks. Check out my reel where I have a visit.
Protest Kitchen - Rua dos Bragas 58, 4050-359 Porto
A queer-owned coffee shop in Porto. I haven’t had a chance to visit but I’ve heard only good things about it.
Liveraria Aberta - Rua do Paraíso 297 299, 4000-378 Porto
A queer bookstore in Porto, one of the few in the country. Read their interview in Time Out.
